Loreley, 14 July 2023 – their only Germany show in 2023
Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets is the live project of Pink Floyd drummer and co-founder Nick Mason. The band has been active since 2018 and plays Pink Floyd classics and fan favourites from albums up to Meddle.
Besides Nick Mason (drums), there are other well-known musicians in the band. We introduce the band to you here:
Nick Mason (drums)
We don’t need to say many words about Nick … Drummer extraordinaire, collector of classic cars, he is the only member of Pink Floyd who played on all studio albums.
Guy Pratt (bass)
Guy Pratt is no stranger to the Pink Floyd family either – he played bass on the tours after Roger Waters left and later also for David Gilmour’s solo tours. In addition, Guy is also popular for his acclaimed music podcast alongside …
Gary Kemp (Guitar)
Gary is best known to many for his work as guitarist and songwriter for the band Spandau Ballet. Kemp was also active as an actor and frequently published podcasts with Guy Pratt as the Rockenteurs.
Dom Beken (keyboards)
Keyboardist Dom Beken is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer who makes music for video games, film and television, including remixes.
Lee Harris (guitar)
Lee has been active in a number of bands in London, including a lengthy stint with The Blockheads. For this band he also worked as co-manager and webmaster. Lee’s father worked with Storm Thorgerson on various projects for Pink Floyd and Lee met Guy Pratt during an exhibition of Thorgerson’s work. The two became friends and played together from time to time. In the end, it was Lee who took the initiative for the Saucerful Of Secrets project and contacted Nick Mason.
Saucerful Of Secrets have been gigging since 2018 and focussing on the music from the time before Dark Side Of The Moon. Classics like Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, Interstellar Overdrive, One Of These Days, Fearless or Astronomy Domine were obvious choices, but the band also plays a selection of more unusual and esoteric tracks from the early phase of Pink Floyd, including Bike, Point Me At The Skyand Green Is The Color. Later they varied their set, so the fans got to hear more curiosities: Vegetable Man, Candy And A Currant Bun, Lucifer Sam or Remember A Day – but also tracks like Atom Heart Mother, If, Obscured By Clouds and Echoes. Almost all the tracks are unique to Saucerful Of Secrets live shows – you won’t hear them at Roger Waters’ or David Gilmour’s concerts. In 2020, the band released the live album and the concert DVD / BluRay Live At The Roundhouse.
Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets will play their only show in Germany on Friday 14 July .2023 at the Loreley – as part of the Night Of The Prog Festival 2023.
